Photo Contest

The Massasoit Art Guild is having a photography contest! Winners will receive a $75 prize, and the winning entries will be included in a framed poster to be presented to the Spencer Town Hall during the awards ceremony at our 15th Annual Art Show and Sale this Fall.

Contest Theme:

Capture the unique and beautiful  architecture of Spencer, MA.  For example, details of a doorway, a fence, a monument, garden ornaments.  Photos can show an entire structure, or just a small detail of a door or window, artfully framed - the more creative the better! Pay attention to composition, lighting, shadows, and lines.  For example, structures lend themselves to side lighting when the sun is low in the sky, creating striking textural effects.  Unusual angles, high or low vantage points, and directional lines can all add to an effective composition. The only thematic requirement is that the subject features exterior architectural details that are located in Spencer, MA.

Details:

This contest is open to all U.S. residents in the Massasoit region who are 18 years of age or older. Photographs must be your original work and you must be the sole owner of the copyright. Also, any photograph found not to be in Spencer will be disqualified as will any photograph with inappropriate subject matter or otherwise deemed offensive as determined by the Massasoit Art Guild Board of Directors. Deadline for submissions is September 1st, 2018. There is no entry fee.

All qualified entries will be displayed on the Massasoit Art Guild website.  A special display will be created for winning entries after the judge has chosen them.

Three winning entries will be chosen by our judge, Peter Swanson. The decision of the judge will be final.
