JUDGING

The Guild is excited to announce this year’s Judges: Jen Swan Artist and Bob Evans Photographer.

Jen Swan is a teaching artist and mural painter. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she currently teaches classes for the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester Center for Crafts, Listening Wellness Center and as a Cultural Partner.

Bob Evans is Vice President of the Blackstone Valley Art Association, NYIP Graduate and FAA Licensed Drone Pilot. He has received numerous awards and publications in national newspapers over the course
of his career.

First, Second, and Third prizes will be awarded in each of the eight categories as well as a Best in Show. Honorable Mentions will be at the discretion of the Judge. If there are too few entries in any category, it is possible that fewer prizes will be awarded in that category. All decisions by the Judge are final.

Memorial Awards in the names of late members will be awarded at the discretion of the families of those members.

AWARDS

1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash awards will be given in each category plus Best in Show. All award winners will be spotlighted on our website, and on social media posts. 

DESCRIPTION

Welcome to the 20th Annual Massasoit Art Guild Art Show and Sale. We invite you to enter up to 5 pieces of artwork in the following categories: Oil, Watercolor, Acrylic, Pastel, Drawings & Prints, Mixed Media and Traditional and Digitally Enhanced Photography.

DATES TO REMEMBER

 

  • Entry Deadline:  September 30, 2023
  • Artwork Entrie Drop Off:  Friday, October 13th,   from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m . 

  • Show Dates and Times: October 14th - 15th 2023   from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

  • Opening Reception: Saturday, October 14th, 2023   from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

  • Awards Ceremony: October 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.

  • Our Raffle Table will be full of great prizes from local businesses. Raffle winners will be announced on Sunday at 2:30

  • Live Music Provided by P.E James on Saturday from 12:00-4:00

  • Pick-up artwork: October 15, 2023   from 4:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

ELIGIBILTY

The show is open to all current members of the Massasoit Art Guild. Not a member click to join. You may also join at the time of entry and include payment with your entry. If you mail a check separately, it must be postmarked no later than September 25, 2023. If you are not sure that you have renewed, Contact us here.

ENTRY CRITERIA

  1. Each artist may submit up to five pieces for this show. 

  2. All work must be original and not entered in past Massasoit Art Guild Shows. 

  3. Labels must be filled out clearly and attached to the back of the artwork.

  4. Maximum H x W (including frame) 40″. Must be WIRED for hanging. NO SAW TOOTH HANGERS ARE ALLOWED. 

  5. Gallery-wrapped canvases must not have any staples or other hardware showing and all sides should be neatly painted.

  6. All accepted work must be hand-delivered.

ENTRY FEES & COMMISSION

Entry fee is $6.00 per entry accompanying the entry form.

All submissions, including payments must be made by Sept. 30, 2023 to be accepted.

The Massasoit Art Guild will retain a 15% commission on artwork sold during the show. Payment from customers for artwork sold during the show will be made in the form of cash, charge, or check made out to The Massasoit Art Guild. Payment will be mailed to artists (minus commission) within a week following the show. Artists are responsible for all taxes resulting from sales of their artwork. Prices for artwork will be listed in the program, but work does not need to be for sale. Enter “NFS” in the price section of the entry form if your work is not for sale.
 

Sales Table

A group sales table will be provided by the Guild and staffed by Guild members during the show. Prices must be clearly marked on each item. Each participating artist is limited to one card rack/box, and one print rack/box. (No crafts please). A two-hour shift to help out at the sales table or refreshment table is required. Participating artists will be contacted to arrange their time.

TERMS OF ENTRY

Massasoit Art Guild will receive a 15% commission on all work sold. Art need not be for sale, but it is encouraged.

By entering the competition, artists grant Massasoit Art Guild permission to use selected images on social media, the website and printed materials for promotional purposes.

Massasoit Art Guild will not be held responsible for the loss or damage of any artwork. By submitting an entry form, each artist will be deemed to have concurred with this agreement.
