April 2020 Newsletter
So much has changed in such a short time. As we all struggle to deal with our new normal and learn new terminology ( social distancing didn't exist last month), I want to look at the positives that have come along with it. I'm watching families eating dinner together, slowing down and spending time together. Customers have been leaving generous tips to restaurant workers and owners to help them as they struggle to stay afloat. People are sharing what they can, even items that have been hard to find on the store shelves. Who would have thought we would struggle to find toilet paper? How many times have you seen the small bottles of hand sanitizer while waiting to check out at Walmart? Boy, do i wish I had picked up more. I listen to podcasts which provide me with information but more importantly inspiration. Two of my favorite thoughts have come from listening....... We are stronger together and Hope is greater than fear.
Let's take care of each other; reach out to us as a community if we can be of help to you. Stay Healthy!

ART IS NOT CANCELLED. THROUGH ART WE RISE. As artists, even in a time of a global health pandemic and unprecedented uncertainty, we still make art. We still take photographs. Our creative process has not been cancelled. We would like to begin a "Virtual Art Show"on our Facebook page showing the work of our members being made and created, both digitally and on canvas/paper during this challenging time in our lives. THROUGH ART WE RISE. The artwork will be continuously add to, so keep on the lookout for posts. Thank you Maggie for this wonderful idea!

The first open house will be held on March 14th from 1 pm to 3 pm at Hodgkin's Building. We are looking for help from members. We will be providing refreshments, Are you able to bake? We would like to show our talented artists at work. Would you like to paint, draw or photograph during the two hour period? We have spoken about holding a sales table similar to the one we hold at the annual Art Show. Can you man the table for us? Do you have art work we can display to freshen up our walls? "We had our first Open House on March 11th and it went well. We had no idea how many people would show up, but we had the studio set up with paintings and photographs for sale. We had 6-8 painters and 1 photographer demonstrating during the day. There were savory and sweet refreshments along with hot and cold drinks served. We ended up having about 8 visitors which was wonderful. All and all it was a great first Open House! The next Open House which was scheduled for April 11th is cancelled due to COVID-19. With regard to Guild activities, we will keep everyone notified accordingly."
"Update due to COVID-19: There will be no meetings or Studio time, as we are of course extending the closure of the Studio based upon Governor Baker's last words to extend through the end of April. We ask that you continue to send your artwork, whatever you might be working on, to Maggie Hart so she can put it up on Facebook. That is, if you don't mind sharing. We hope that all are well, and continue to be so."
